First Bottle

November 5th, 2010
3 weeks old

At 3 weeks and 5 days we decided that it was time to intoduce a bottle.  We had heard everything from you have to introduce a bottle by 2 weeks and to wait until 6 weeks.  4 weeks sounded like a good compromise to us.  So, when daddy got home from his trip, we dove into the world of bottle feeding.  Now, we had heard stories about babies who refuse to take a bottle.  We had also heard about the need to try a variety of different bottles until you found the one that worked for your baby.  Nolan is such a good eater we didn't anticipate there being a problem.  We were right!  For Nolan, it is pretty much "FEED ME" when he decides he is hungry.  Nolan took to the bottle like a champ.  It was so nice for daddy to be able to enjoy the bonding time with Nolan.

While we are on the topic, another quick note about Nolan and eating.  They say by the time that a baby cries to let you know that they are hungry, you have missed numerous signs.  Well, I am sorry but the people who wrote the books have not met our child.  Nolan can go from 0 to 60 on the hungry thing.  We really try to read the signs, but they are usually lacking.  We have found that just keeping to a schedule helps.  While most babies don't have a super strict eating schedule, Nolan is remarkable consistent.  We try to feed him just before he realizes that he is hungry.  3 hours and we are good.  3 hours and 5 minutes and he expresses his displeasure with us.

Daddy is loving being able to feed his boy!

A bottle expert from the very beginning. Thanks Aunt Laura for the fancy bottles!

Feeding time is bonding time
